    Any youth wishing to exhibit an animal at the fair is required to complete Quality Assurance.  An animal project will be defined as any animal project that is exhibited at the fair EXCEPT: Companion Animals:  dogs, cats, and projects taken through the Pet Rabbit or Pocket Pet projects. All Quality Assurance  must be completed and documentation submitted to the OSU Extension office by July 1, 2019 Any youth wishing to exhibit livestock at the Ohio State Fair MUST complete QA by June 1, 2019 

  2. May. 14, 2019 6:30pm to 8:00pm

    Members taking a Shooting Sports project and a parent or legal guardian, MUST attend at least one of the safety meetings, and pay the $15.00 fee, to participate in any of the range activities. This will be the opportunity to complete all of the required paperwork, have a discussion with members and parents on the objectives of the shooting sports program, and convey the importance of all aspect of safety as it pertains to the program. It will be the first opportunity for many of the members and parents to meet the instructors.

  3. May. 09, 2019 6:30pm to 8:00pm

    An educational course that covers good agricultural practices or "GAPs', which help reduce the risk of on-farm produce contamination

    Intended for applicators who currently have a pesticide or fertilizer applicator license

  7. Mar. 13, 2019 7:00pm to 8:00pm

    Gardeners play a vital role in the development and conservation of habitat that benefits pollinators, including bees, birds and butterflies. This session will focus on the practical steps gardeners can take to create or enhance habitat, including plant selection and simple design elements. By creating a patchwork of garden spaces that provide food and shelter for pollinators, gardeners can positively impact the health and survival of these important creatures.

  8. Mar. 12, 2019 7:00pm to 8:00pm

    Phenology is the study of recurring biological phenomena and their relationship to weather and climate. Bird migration, hunting and gathering seasons, blooming of wildflowers and trees, and the seasonal appearance of insects are examples of phenological events that have been recorded for centuries. Participants will learn how to track bloom time of local plants using a web-based biological calendar, how native bees emerge in relation to phenology, and how to customize this calendar for bee-specific plants.

  9. Mar. 12, 2019 1:00pm to 3:00pm

    Become certified as an Ohio Pollinator Advocate.Ohio Pollinator Advocates are certified, trained volunteers who spread the word about the importance of pollinators. Advocates complete at least two hours of training in pollination biology, Ohio bee identification, bee biology and habitat enhancement. Once certified, advocates agree to share their knowledge of why pollinators matter. Advocates have access to outreach resources and materials, including PowerPoint programs and identification guides. This new training is sponsored by The Ohio State University Bee Lab.
