Dear 4-H families, volunteers, and supporters,
As we head into fall, we want to take a moment to thank you for remaining flexible as we work together to help prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus. By following recommended guidance, we’re helping to keep our families and friends safer, our kids learning, and our economy going. We also want to take a moment to share updated in-person 4-H meeting requirements and a reminder to continue to follow our 4-H guidelines.

The Brown County Senior Fairboard has voted to hold a modified Junior Fair for 2020 following the guidelines set through the Responsible Restart Ohio guidelines and State Health Orders. This event will be open to the public.
A schedule has been drafted with input from Junior Fair Superintendents, Junior Fairboard, and approved by the Senior Fairboard. It has been posted on our website but is subject to change. If changes are made, a new version will be posted with an updated timestamp.

To better serve our clientele, volunteers, and families, OSU Extension Brown County staff will be available by appointment on Monday and Wednesday starting July 27th. Appointments can be made by calling 937-378-6716 or reaching out to the staff member directly.
Face coverings are required for OSU staff and clientele in the office.
We will have a drop-off box outside the office during these hours. If you are just dropping off paperwork or materials, you may use the box. Please label it clearly. No appointments are necessary for this.

“During the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA), is partnering with the Ohio State University Extension Pesticide Safety Education Program (PSEP) to temporarily provide online recertification for pesticide applicators and fertilizer certificate holders whose licenses expired in spring of 2020. The online recertification will be available Monday, July 6.

The USDA Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) was established to fill the gap when children lose access to meals when schools are closed. Most often this occurs during summer vacation. However, during school closures related to the pandemic, meals are also being made available. You have the opportunity to supplement the food you have at home with meals and snacks for your children from local schools and community organizations.

The National 4-H Shooting Sports Committee is holding a virtual Quiz Bowl competition. You do not have to be enrolled in a shooting sports project to participate.
Individual and team awards are available.

T-Shirts are just $10 and can be ordered through Howser's One Stop Shop at http://go.osu.edu/browncotshirt
Orders are due July 1st and we will notify everyone when shirts are ready on the pick-up procedures.

“Tune in on Wednesdays at 10 am to view The Southern Ohio Farm Show, a new program offered weekly by the OSU Extension offices from Brown, Clermont, and Highland Counties. The program will include a market update, weather forecast, and each episode will include a feature an educational topic. The first episode will cover soil sampling procedures, and how to submit samples while Extension offices are closed.
